The Background Story
Since April 2018 I am the proud owner of a Jayco Conquest FD19. Overall I'm happy, BUT at the same time I am frustrated that the learning curve is immense, while the owner documentation is quite complex and severely deficient. So after a few little trips, much trial an error and many emails and phone calls I have finally managed to finally get the big picture on how to manage the FD19 !
Avoiding the 10 biggest mistakes when operating the FD19
#1 Be aware of the Fiat Speed limiter that can kick in anywhere even as low as 35km/h ! - Kick the pedal hard to the floor (you must get beyond the tactile resistance point of the pedal)
#2 Beware of your big foot - You may hit the Gas and the Break pedal at the same time
#3 Be sure you park in gear on slopes - Watch display before you turn engine off !
#4 Look under the van, diminished clearance. Lowest point water tank and retractable step ! Be careful when driving on uneven ground.
#5 Look up ! Your van is 2.85m high, don't damage the top ot scratch the sides (tree branches)
#6 Study the Jayco BMPRO JHUB and budget your energy when camping off grid !
I have checked 2 other motor homes with J35 controllers and neither of those indicate aux power is being supplied from van to house batteries. Best people who can help you with this is the people at Setec who handle all JHub enquiries and warranty. They are contactable on (03) 9763 0962.
Here is what I have so far just waiting on part numbers
The house battery is connected to the Fiat battery management system Through a wiring loom located behind the driver’s seat in the compartment under the floor
There is a shunt fuse located at the house battery in the rear
There may also be a fuse under the bonnet for the ignition that could blow and affect
Management system ,step ,camera ,etc
These are described as shunts/ circuit breakers
1: 40 amp is there to protect j35 from overload or surge part number( )
2: 50 amp is there to protect the fiat management system part number( 0
1 is the main fuse for the unit and the other is for the air suspension option
(If unsure read the j 35 manual for position of fuses in unit)
Step and camera ,fridge fuses can also be found behind driver’s seat under floor
USB sockets would be through j35
