​We bought a farm at Mount Lion, NSW in Dec 2022 and started farming in 2023. Our property stretches well into the forrest of  Mt Lion NSW, Australia.

As a syndicate we pay a resident farmer to work the farm and we handle all operational decisions and put in sweat energy to organise working bees and social events. We are very proud of our syntropic garden that we plant and harvest ourselves. 

It's been much harder than we all thought to run a farm collective on democratic principles with over 100 co-owners making all substantial operative decisions by vote.

​After going through lots of storms our farm has developed reasonably well under a highly committed volunteer leadership. We have a farmer, are independent and debt free and produce healthy food. But we are still not commercially viable and have an ongoing internal problem with factions. I wished I could say we are stable, but NO, we are struggling !​

The MtLion Farm Collective in Kyogle NSW is a Community of people acting with integrity to build and maintain a self-sustaining and prosperous food-producing, recreational and educational hub that demonstrates our respect for each other and the land, our values and our commitment to future generations. The Covid Era has brought us a massive wakeup call. Our govt is not pursuing Australian interests first ! Global Group think appears to be the modi operandi ! Personal and Foreign interests drive our national agenda, aka agenda 2030 ! When the PWQ group presented an opportunity to do something positive I jumped in ! And in addition I do a little bit of backyard farming of nutrient dense organic foods and practice food preservation here in Melbourne !

As a response I was looking for Financial Security, Food Security, Health Autonomy and a Community of Like minded people. So, after joining Parents with Questions , I bought a farmlet on bricklet on their recommendation almost three years ago. Is this collective farming endeavour commercially viable ?
