The Background Story
Since April 2018 I am the proud owner of a Jayco Conquest FD19. Overall I'm happy, BUT at the same time I am frustrated that the learning curve is immense, while the owner documentation is quite complex and severely deficient. So after a few little trips, much trial an error and many emails and phone calls I have finally managed to finally get the big picture on how to manage the FD19 !
Avoiding the 10 biggest mistakes when operating the FD19
#1 Be aware of the Fiat Speed limiter that can kick in anywhere even as low as 35km/h ! - Kick the pedal hard to the floor (you must get beyond the tactile resistance point of the pedal)
#2 Beware of your big foot - You may hit the Gas and the Break pedal at the same time
#3 Be sure you park in gear on slopes - Watch display before you turn engine off !
#4 Look under the van, diminished clearance. Lowest point water tank and retractable step ! Be careful when driving on uneven ground.
#5 Look up ! Your van is 2.85m high, don't damage the top ot scratch the sides (tree branches)
#6 Study the Jayco BMPRO JHUB and budget your energy when camping off grid !
